No, nothin'. Didn't wanna disturb the body either—but there was a small weight by a treadmill nearby that Hung and Ponta saw. Had a scuff on it, but not sure if it was the thing that did her in...
[ she rubs her jaw a little before turning on her phone and flipping to her photos. ]
... Unrelated... but sort of related to our situation I guess. We got this note from our little trip. Figured you should have it too...
[ there's a photo of a note that says:
These heroes are unable to return to the worlds they call home while they have yet to win their competition. If a team loses, all those within the team, present and future, those worlds they hail from will come under the light of the moon. Those worlds will be forever changed with the loss of the heroes hailing from them. There is nothing better than a hero under distress.
By winning they will be putting their companions here at risk. By losing, their homes will be rewritten to be completely different, erasing their place within it. A dire situation indeed. A benefit no matter the outcome. ]
It sounds like you all did good investigative work. We'll look more closely into these things during tomorrow's farce. [ there's approval there. he expects nothing less, really. hung especially - he's a detective, too.
but, ah. the note! he looks interested, eyebrows raising, and tilts to look at the note itself, reading it carefully. there's a long moment where he processes, before he flips to a fresh page in his notebook and starts to write, copying the text. ]
...Under the light of the moon, hm.
[ his expression doesn't change much, but jolyne will likely get the immediate vibe of :nyeh: from that specific sentence alone. hmm. hmm!!!! as he's finishing copying over the text: ] ...How foreboding. Perhaps this is related, after all - at least in terms of motive.
Don't know if it's right to begin with... just feels like we're being set up. Just with how that entire note sounds...
Our powers are stripped, and we've been given brand new powers... it puts all of the control in their court. [ a beat ] What if that's just a small part of it? A sweetener to throw us off. "There is nothing better than a hero under distress."
[ yeah. everything is terrible! he nods, thoughtful as ever. ]
As far as I can ascertain, we are not unlike the dolls in a paper play, at the moment. Though our will is free, in some manners, we are being held to a specific narrative, and all factors around us are designed to play into it. Even when we push back against the story, there's no hide, hair, or mention of it, and no one native to this place seems to listen.
Have you spoken much to the leaders at all about our situation? Or, perhaps, what happened before we arrived?
And even then, I'm not sure. It's funny, because they've ascertained that the moon crash thing was real... but then I went online the other day and there are definitely some people who think it's a total hoax. I know you can't always believe shit you see on the 'net or whatever, but...
It's worth having all of the perspectives. In every bit of information, there's some iota of truth.
So I really think maybe it's got something to do with this "paper doll" aspect that you mentioned. I would put money on the fact that something about Thursday night specifically makes us... susceptible to something.

[ the moon, the moon, the moon, it was always the moon with pucci. she lowers her eyes, curling her fingers into her palms. ]
It might just be. I wonder if there's something about Thursday nights... [ she drags a nail on the top of the chair, scratching quietly in thought. ]

What do you think?
