... I believe someone used the drum to have Vane kill Danny in some manner, and then took him out afterwards.
That person would have to be clever enough to know that Fox needed a kill for their quota, but someone who didn't have faith in them getting their hands dirty, or, rather, felt that the rest of them shouldn't have to. Additionally, that person would have to be someone who read between the lines on the newspaper in the past week or two - and paid close attention to the messages on the network to read between the lines and catch onto the same theory that I had.
...In the end, my only goal in these trials is to find the truth of each case. I've worked diligently in doing so beyond the bounds of the nine hours we sit in, and that will not change.
... I agree. The more I think on it... the more I think that a misguided attempt at helping may have indeed been the case. And I wonder if an easy target would have been seen out of simple, sheer, dislike.
[ he just. sighs, after a moment, tilting his head back. ]
Sometimes, the simplest answer is the correct one. I'm starting to think I may know who did it.

[so much has happened. which theory is it at this point.
she sighs and shakes her head, anyway.]
It's a stupid way to do things, anyway. If they used to drums to make Vane kill Danny, that probably counts as them using Vane as the murder weapon.

It is only a theory, of course. But I do wonder. And I would agree with you, too - perhaps the more altruistic cause was less important.

Reigen didn't want them to get hurt.

[she sighs.]
I almost wish they had picked somebody else, or better yet, nobody at all. Nimona got really upset when we found him...
