[ on this fine tuesday, temenos is hanging out in... the library! he's sitting at a table and there are like. stacks on stacks of books piled up nearby. with his chin propped in his hand, he appears to be reading one laying flat on the table.
...though, he yawns after a long moment, so, maybe it's not that interesting...? and eventually he rubs the space between his temples and sighs. seems like a good moment for a chat! ]
[ there's all kinds of stuff! there's some history texts, some science texts, a couple mythology texts, a bible, a book on astronomy.... so many! ]
Many books, and not much in the way of current events. [ ahhh. temenos smiles at nico when he speaks up, a little bit wry. god. ] A place that is certainly very dedicated to its newspaper and not so dedicated to its archives. Have you been hunting through, too?
[ raising an eyebrow at the mythology texts and pointedly ignoring those. ]
Yeah. Tama and I were looking for newspaper articles and everything yesterday and we found nothing. Kind of a bust. [ and it's frustrating, but what can you do. ] I was hoping to get another look around the city for a newsroom or something. There has to be an office for that sort of thing, doesn't there?
Mm. Perhaps it's in a part of the city that's yet to be reconstructed. There must be a scrivener around somewhere... [ a ye olde reporter ] In my experience, they can pop up in the strangest of places, at the strangest of moments.
[ there's like. a brief pause after he says that, but he shakes his head, leaning on his book. ]
It seems the mysteries here have only gotten deeper as the city has gotten wider. Our work may yet be cut out for us.
So really maybe what we should be doing is trying to gain some attention to see if they appear earlier. That might work for some people. [ not him. he doesn't want the attention he just wants to observe. ]
It doesn't surprise me, really. It still feels like we barely know anything even though we've been here for days now. [ tell him the secrets!!! ]
Mm. [ more amused: ] Well, some of our cadre are awfully ostentatious, so I imagine it won't take long.
[ be nice
temenos is also on the side of observation. save the extroversion for people like partitio "my charisma is so magnetic you are powerless to resist the cowboy" or hikari "i am simply the nicest boy in the entire world" ku. ]
I feel much the same. I quite like gathering information. It is a shame there's very little of it. [ sigh. ] Have you learned much from your intrepid leader? Mine's quite elusive.
Considering we were only here for a day and our living quarters were drowned in soda, I would say ostentatious is being generous.
[ both of you be nice. ]
I've been learning some stuff from Phoenix on and off. Mostly that this is just as unfair to them as it is us. I kind of thought they'd have more of a heads up than we do but it sounds like they're really learning right along with us. I still have a lot of questions about the competition that're being met with "we don't know yet." So...not that promising. [ phoenix is trying. ] You're with Rabbit, right?
[ there's an amused little smile at the first bit, a slight twinkle in his eyes as he agrees with a noise. i'm glad they're both like this.
but, moving on: ]
I am. [ agreeing. ] And they've been just as elusive, if not more so. I get the sensation they're the sort who is unused to not knowing everything.
[ which is very much familiar, and probably why all of the rabbits are stuck together, but that's besides the point. ] It makes me quite curious who, or what, might above them - or what forces brought us all here, our dear leaders included.
I think I'd be a little annoyed if I went from always having answers to having none at all. Maybe it's less elusive and more about not wanting to be proven wrong yet.
[ me looking at who the rabbits are and nodding sagely. ]
There are a number of things that could take control of people whenever they want and for whatever agenda they want. It's more of a matter of if those things exist in a place like this...city? World? I'm not sure how big this place really is.
[ he hums his agreement, to the first bit, mouth curling up in a smile. understanding that vibe, though he's enigmatic for now. ]
...I agree. The divine, I suppose, or the servants of them, but the context is so very different from my world that I may just be taking shots in the dark.
Oh, no. For the most part, they couldn't be bothered to meddle, despite the prayers of the plenty. Ask them for blessings and questions all you like, but they are rarely listening. [ there's a brief glance upwards, like he's scolding a naughty child that is not there? this is coming from the cleric
anyway!! ]
That being said, all of the trouble of my realm that has been the most in danger of world ending has been at the behest of a god.
From what I understand, gods are always busy. Or at least that's what you're lead to believe. [ but hm. ] And why exactly did a god want to end your world...?
A greedy deity who would stop at nothing to consume what they felt was theirs. [ wild. he shrugs though. ] The general you're, yes. There seem to be a lot of worlds with different gods and higher powers, but the lack of communication's a common problem.
[ dry... why do so many people have this in common...
but any rate; ]
Such is the case with faith, it seems. The gods are rarely as infallible as those who communicate with them tend to hope for, either. Are these common problems where you're from, too?
An art I've perfected, really. [ haha. ] I wouldn't say it's common for most people where I'm from. Plenty of people live blissfully unaware of what the gods are doing.
Hmm. What do you think? To be aware of it all, no matter its caveats, or to be unaware that they're not paying attention and desperately hoping they do?
I meant more the people unaware don't even believe in them, so they're likely not to be disappointed anyway. They think the gods are all old stories. But I would rather know than not.
w0, tuesday

The good thing about the library is there's a lot more books available to us than I thought there would be. [ hello! ]

I guess it depends on who you ask. And depending on what people choose to believe. Our world is safe for now regardless though.

Well. That makes two of us. Better to seek truth than stumble in the dark.
[ he reaches up and pats his giant stack of books with a laugh. ]
And thus, this! I feel as though I'm playing catchup with many of our compatriots, all the time.

Is that all helping? You have a lot of different subjects you're perusing.
