[ at this point they've practically got their own table, right? so temenos'll head that way! he's set up there, flipping through his notebook, though... he's got something else with him today! more specifically, it's a little bag that contains a little cake! he's in the midst of cutting a small slice of it with a fork and ignoring any librarians giving him any looks. ]
Hello, Nico. [ with a nod, and a smile! ] Come, sit.
[ LISTEN. but also, that was partially it. he figures there's enough of a rapport there, and that temenos will know exactly where to go based on what nico's not saying. when he enters the library and heads for that specific table he finds himself smiling a touch, pleased that the unspoken message was received.
he wanders closer to come have a seat, but he's also giving this cake a curious glance. ]
Hello. What's with the cake? [ sits his ass down to contemplate this. if he pretends it's normal nobody else will think its questionable. ]
I find that long discussions of study often pair well with sweets.
[ so, that's how we're playing it - pretending to be doing a little study, here, until any potentially wandering eyes look away. he cuts off a piece, thin, and passes it across with a napkin, a bit of a twinkle in his eye. ]
It's almond cake. Quite familiar to my homeland - Hung is very impressive.
I will have to take your word for it. My study sessions tend to be more hands-on. [ known as swinging around a sword and trying not to die constantly. but he takes the napkin with a small "thanks", still not entirely sure about this but easily playing along. ]
Hung does seem to know what he's talking about when it comes to food. [ it's with that though that he does take a tiny piece to test. ] Actually, that's sort of what I wanted to speak to you about. Have you been able to talk to him or any of the others who left the city and reappeared on Thursday?
[ mood. also the cake is delicious? it's like a very european, sweet but not too sweet almond cake. it is a cake recipe made by nuns that i googled in desperation trying to complete my tasks.
but he nods, and as the librarian leaves them alone, finally, temenos settles, resting his cheek in his hand and flipping a few pages in his notebook. he's got the content of the two notes copied word for word, on one of the pages. ]
These, mm? As we were told - to look out for strange writing. And to call these strange does seem a bit off the mark - unsettling, perhaps.
[ thank you for cake, he is still a teenager and has a garbage diet when he's not paying attention so this is good to settle him down.
he's also kind of relieved to see that temenos already has the notes. ]
Yeah, those. I was hoping you'd been informed already but had planned to do so myself just in case. [ he doesn't really know any of the other bunnies. ] Phoenix mentioned strange writings to me a while ago and seemed to think finding these was a good sign. At least to identify our problem. What do you think of the contents?
he smiles a bit at that, grateful. ] I do appreciate it. I've chatted a bit with a few of the others - I suppose if I'm going to be a Hound, I may well be the type to sniff around for clues, too.
[ that's a joke, light and wry - but, with that, temenos takes a thoughtful bite of his own cake, examining the notes again, to settle more into the groove. ]
... I had wondered if perhaps this - [ tapping the note about the death per week ] - had been a motive in one of our two cases, particularly now that I know Argalia's motive. [ and that it was dumb but he won't say that. ]
And as for the other...well. Shades of it are familiar, unfortunately. And it certainly ties to the incident with the moon before our arrival. I find the bit about rewriting to be curious: I wonder how literal it is.
I'll say this. As a whole, these letters are certainly melodramatic. For lack of a better phrase; clearly 'villianous'.
[ he raises an eyebrow, but decides not to ask. he can read the tone and he only thinks "this is how we all cope with shitty names" because he'd done something similar the other day. he's polite enough not to lean over the table to read the notes unless invited, but he does seem attentive. ]
I doubt either of these have anything to do with Argalia's motive. Not based on what he said to me. I don't know how far this information got on Thursday, I only shared with a few people. But I was thinking of that as well. Why is the moon so important here? [ he thinks on this. ] If they have the power to bring us here, I suppose that might be literal enough. So how do we stop it?
[ the wreckage of my inbox ate this notif but im backtagging it now
the eyebrow raise gets a slight crook of a smile, which suggests perhaps. yeah! no answers today! your discretion is appreciated. perhaps later.
he'll nudge the book across for nico to see if he'd like - it's copies of the cyoa notes, as well as a few other annotations here and there. the one who brings down the moon, "bring down the moon" underlined in the note, so on and so forth. ]
No. Argalia's motive was, in the absolute barest of sense, 'understanding'. [ really it was "because i could" but he doesn't say that. ]
...At home, those who call themselves the Moonshade Order use the moon more metaphorically. Here, supposedly, it was what caused the destruction that we arrived to. This city itself had been destroyed by its presence. How does one stop the moon from being dropped from the sky?
I suppose the answer is find the person who dropped it. [ with a soft snort. ] As if it would be so easy.
I tried to write into the newspaper, to see if we might get a hint. It didn't work, but I found it quite interesting that the responses of 'Addy' have changed lately - did you notice?
At least his story was consistent. I can appreciate that. [ briefly annoyed...but ah. ] I suppose the only way to stop the moon from dropping from the sky is finding how it can happen in the first place. A power, magic, or something else. And then the next question is "why." If I was hoping to destroy a city, I'd find a better method than the moon.
...I've noticed though, yeah. Nothing to look into too deeply yet, but I've been sort of curious myself what their answers might say. I don't think I'll be writing in anytime soon but it's worth keeping an eye on. Any change that's different is worth noting, don't you think?
