Which makes me believe that someone outside of their team took that upon themselves. Someone who used the drum to have Vane kill Danny, in order to wrap up the quota, and then got rid of Vane afterwards.

They could've just asked. It's an open secret at this point, I don't think any of us thought for a second there wouldn't be a fox among the killers this week. If they were that worried they could've asked and not forced Vane to kill Danny and then killed him afterwards!
For what?! And I don't care if the answer is "well he might've outed them as having controlled him afterwards" -- that's the risk you take if you're going to intervene like that!

What if the person who did it chose to do so as vengeance against Danny in particular?
If you have an issue with someone, take it up with them yourself! Don't-- [ she waves a hand ] Don't drag other people into a convoluted mess because the grudge you have is with Danny, not Vane, not the Foxes. All this did is make a mess that has almost wiped out another team.
I know there's a certain safety to being the last person left on a team. I really don't think people here want to wipe out whole teams. But it sucks. That someone would do that to Nimona, to Hana-- [ she just cuts herself off, fuming. she knows!! she knows how much it sucks to be the last person left on your team!! ]

Out of all the people left, I have no issue with any of them. Any of us. I like everyone! But-- [ she laughs. ] I get what Nimona was saying, about not knowing if you can forgive someone for something they've done. Not knowing if you want to. [ she's not sure she can forgive whoever did this to vane. ] And I am really not kidding about making them apologise to Vane as soon as he's back.

Ultimately, you don't have to forgive anyone. That is why it is forgiveness - it is yours to give, in the way that it is Vane's to give, if he chooses to do so. Someone saw Vane as collateral damage: I personally don't find that forgivable, either.
[ because it's so familiar. because vane deserved better than that. because temenos has seen this exact same thing play out before, and he is too - it's still so fresh. he's stupid, for having considered this could be any different. he kicks himself for it even now.
but that's the way these things work. the good are collateral damage for someone else's story. the lambs are always led to slaughter.

The only person who is required to live with their decisions at this moment is the one who did it. Whether they feel guilt or not is something we will not discern until then - and perhaps never. There is no closure in this sort of thing. But in that same regard, you are allowed your fury, and your grief long after we uncover them, as we will.

I know I don't. And I know he doesn't either. But just the way it all played out -- even if they do say they had the foxes in mind, or that was their excuse for using Vane to go after Danny, they didn't just see Vane as collateral. They put the whole team up as collateral in the process.

The way this spiralled as well. Maybe they didn't expect that. I can give them that much. But at this point? Everything's so closely intertwined that there was always a chance it would slip out of their control. If you can call it that.

[ frankly. that seems to be the theme, as these things often are. not everyone is logical. in fact, killing others might just be the most impulsive choices of all. there's a reason why people like temenos and tama aren't murderers. (probably.)

serial killers would be the kind to plan, rather than people seizing the moment and killing without thought, so maybe it is wrong to assume someone will be planning that far ahead but
