I think it's likely points are awarded for acting, yes. I wouldn't be surprised. After all, on Thursdays, heroes are allowed to "act as villains" - so perhaps playing along to avoid capture is a boon on your total of points. Maintaining your status as a hero despite acting briefly as a villain does seem to play well into their narrative.
